Fairytale Act 1 complete.

A good LeBron article from more than a week ago that I just barely came across. Read it and think about it in terms of Saturday's game and the performance put on by the rookie Gibson. Ask yourself: is LeBron James a one man show? Yes. Is he also one of the best team-players? Yes. And finally, was giving up the ball to Boobie Gibson or Donyell Marshall the right thing to do? I say yes.

Cornell Lights Take National Championship

CORNELL CREW won the national championship of college rowing today

When our large class of '05 graduated, everyone said the Cornell lightweights were going to have a rebuilding year. Since then they have won the last two IRA championships. What an awesome group of guys. Congratulations.

Man of the Season?

Man of the Season?
First, I thought that Baron Davis was hands down (in my opinion) the man of the playoffs this year. He was just super fun to watch and was one of these guys who steps up and gets better and plays harder when he has to. Unfortunately, he then started to have some inconsistency as they moved into the second round. So my vote for man of the season moved wisely to someone who didn't have that undesirable attribute of inconsistency; someone from the hometown team...Deron Williams. He has been an all-out hero and despite the Jazz having been eliminated by the Spurs, I unequivocally held that Deron Williams was the man of the NBA playoffs this year...
That was until the KJV (King James Version) of overtime (2 chapters worth) was written last night. LeBron brought his KJV A-game and made the translation available for all of Detroit's fans first person, and all the rest of us on cable TV. I think you all have heard, or likely saw what he did. I've been waiting to see something like this from him ever since he scored those 25 points during his first game in the pros and caused the naysayers to consider the fact that he might actually turn into a star.
The icing on the cake for me is the fact that LeBron, unlike Kobe or even Jordan, is still averaging more than 8 assists per game.

Fairytale possible?
Given that no one I've talked to in the last 6 months (except for 1 confused guy I work with) likes the Spurs, wouldn't it be a fairytale-come-true for Americans if we could see this kind of show from the Cavs happen* again during the Finals? Except it will be even sweeter because we'll replace Tayshaun Prince (see picture above) with Tim Duncan, Chauncy Billips with Tony Parker, 'Sheed with Oberto, and Hamilton with Ginobili or some other annoying player. Then it will be a seriously fun fairytale game to watch - perfect, actually - for the 60 minutes before awarding the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy.
